Favorite Fremont BBQ Restaurants

From national chain restaurants to the small, independently owned soul food establishment, Fremont BBQ restaurants vary in flavor and presentation. Find some local favorites on our list of Fremont BBQ restaurants, including a Hawaiian-style barbecue spot, and prepare to get your fingers messy.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit
A national franchise, Dickey’s tagline is “smoked here, loved everywhere.” Smoked meats, sandwiches, baked potatoes with all the toppings, and homestyle sides are among the choices at Dickey’s. The restaurant smokes their meat overnight over hickory wood, then slabs on a secret sauce made with molasses, spices, and a tomato base. Before you go, grab a bottle of Dickey’s barbecue sauce to go.

Southern Heritage Bar-B-Q & Fish

Found in a small Fremont strip mall, Southern Heritage Bar-B-Q & Fish brings soul food to the South Bay. Try to beat the crowds by coming in early, as the small space gets filled up fast. While there are tables for dining in, Southern Heritage Bar-B-Q & Fish is great for take-out when you have a hankering for a barbecue fix or some fried catfish. Barbecue choices include pulled pork, baby back ribs, brisket, and hot links.

Ohana Hawaiian BBQ
What do they lunch on in a tiny lunch spot in Waimea on Hawaii’s Big Island? The same menu items you’ll find at Ohana Hawaiian BBQ. Local Hawaiian spices and ingredients are used to flavor chicken, pork, and beef entrees. All choices come with rice and macaroni. Find favorites like Volcano Chicken, Hawaiian BBQ Shortribs, and Kalua Pork with Cabbage. Golden-fried seafood platters and Surf and Turf combinations are also available. Ohana Hawaiian BBQ is part of the Ahu’s Hawaiian BBQ franchise.

Kinder’s Meats, Deli and BBQ
A Bay Area institution, Kinder’s is three generations strong. Family secrets have been passed down since the deli and meat market opened in 1946. Today, John Kinder, the man who founded Kinder’s, continues to work behind the counter as his family helps keep the ship running across several Kinder’s locations in northern California. Purchase award-winning BBQ or a bottle of Kinder’s BBQ sauce to do some grilling at home. Kinder’s has won First Place for Best BBQ Sauce and First Place for Best Ribs time and again at local cook-offs.
